Moratorium on the erection, construction or reconstruction of buildings larger than 75,000 sq. ft.
Effective July 30, 2007:
The Council of the City of Duluth, Georgia hereby Ordains and Resolves that
the Mayor and City Council of the City of Duluth place a temporary moratorium on
the acceptance of development applications and issuance of construction permits,
building permits or other development permits for any building over 75,000
square feet to be located in any zoning classification within the City of Duluth
during the effective period of this moratorium (which expires on Jan. 31,
2008. *Moratorium was lifted by City
Council on Dec. 17, 2007.*
This temporary moratorium shall not affect any annexation or zoning request,
and it shall not affect the issuance of any permits associated with complete
applications submitted prior to July 30, 2007.
Large-Scale Development Impact Study
During the moratorium period described above, the City will undertake a study
to address impacts created by the development of large-scale buildings with a
goal of identifying ways to mitigate as many impacts as possible.
The impact study will be coordinated by a consultant, Jordan, Jones & Goulding
(JJG)),
and the findings/recommendations will be presented to City Council on November
26, 2007.
